Keeping Your Documents Safe

Your executors will be required by the Probate Registry to produce your original Will, in the event of your death.  If your original Will has been lost or mislaid, the court will presume that it was revoked by you in your lifetime.  If this presumption is made, a former Will could be proved or the laws of intestacy may apply.  If your Will is damaged in any way which might cast doubt as to the contents of the Will or raise questions as to why the damage was caused, the court could reject the Will as being invalid.

If there is one place you should never, ever keep an original Will, it is at home!

We all know how easy it is to lose or misplace documents that are kept at home, especially when packing up and moving house.  And with over 64,000 household fires, 1,000,000 burglaries and the rising number of homes at risk from flooding each year, arranging secure storage for your important documents represents peace of mind and insurance against calamities.

Advantage Legal can arrange storage for your important documents with National Will Safe.  You will be issued with an identity card for yourself and your executors.  When either you or your executors need to access your documents all that is needed is a simple phone call and the documents are sent next day by special delivery at no cost.

For a small, annual fee, the benefits include :

  • Security of a specialist document archive
  • Safe and confidential storage
  • Secure against water damage
  • Secure against fire damage
  • Fully insured

Wherever you decide to store your Will and other important documents, always make sure that your executors know exactly where to find them.

Better safe than sorry
